Seriously, seriously fun with friends. Easy for people to pick up and learn, and it gets so fast and intense! Playing with friends collectively earns experience points to unlock new characters, maps, and items, which is how you do multiplayer unlocks right. I love that feeling of everyone contributing to earning new stuff to play with. I've got over 50 local multiplayer games and this is easily in the top 5, I highly recommend it.. If you're looking for a quick couch competitive game, this is a must have. Eggnarok is so far the best and the funniest mode to happen.. Plug in you video input to a TV, hook up some controllers, and your all set for some super fun couch co-op.. Wand Wars has easy to learn but hard to master gameplay, fantastic local multiplayer action, a challenging single player mode, and some of the best game feel I've ever experienced. Every button you press feels impactful and juicy, and timing is everything. Local multiplayer is where this game truly shines, but even if you don't have a group of friends to meet up and play games with, imo it's well worth the price to check out the story mode and play some bot matches. Even when you're playing with the AI things can get pretty intense. I've logged about 4 hours total so far (probably more than half of that in single player) and I feel like I still have a lot of improving to do before I'm good enough to take on the top level bots and the final stages of the story mode - but I get a little better every time I play! Make sure you play with a controller for the best experience, and make sure you play with the volume up, as the music and sound design is also top notch.. It's ok it feels like a party game I don't know why but it does probaly because everytime I play a party game I start to punch myself in the face just like I do in this game, a lot. I started making a dent in my wall I think from the back of my skull.. I bought this game in summer sale, and was thinking about refunding it...Until I played the multiplayer, this is probably one of the most Fun games I've played in a while.Dont play this game alone, just play it with friends together.Basically you hit the ball and it becomes your color while in that color it can knock out enemys. When you hit the ball it gets bigger and faster. (Top-Down)The Game has very Balanced Moves.Normal Strike:You just dash forward and hit the ball, or you can charge and aim the ball by holding the ButtonHex Shot:You can Charge it and make it faster and aim it better, it transforms People into chickens or Stops the Ball (After hitting it, it still has the same Size and Speed)Gem Use:You use your gem (you can collect them while they appear on the stage) which unleashes an powerful "Kamehameha"or just a big shot.Card Use:I havent explored them that much but everything that I've gattered is that you get them in trials mode by killing enemys,They have some Special effects like giving you a Shield or summoning "Brofists"The game is also as balanced as it can be with characters:There are no characters, they are skins. (Cat for the win)And the game gets really intense while the ball gets bigger and faster I bet you will burst out in laugher when you play this game with your friends (if you have any) and the ball just bounces around with an insane speed.PROS:Very balancedFun with FriendsCool ArtstyleGets intense while the ball gets FasterEasy to play with not that experienced players in videogames.CONS:Boring af soloNo online multiplayer(I cant really add more to this)Conclusion:This is the perfect game if you hang out with your friends and dont know what to play (or if you do)I regret even thinking about refunding this game.Prob. a 7/10Cheap and fun.but still is lacking online multiplayer and a more fun solo mode.. This game is great. Wand Wars is a blast. It's excellent by every measure. The gameplay is novel and fun, the soundtrack is catchy as hell, and the art is beautiful. I would rank this as one of the top 3 couch co-op games on Steam, along with Duck Game and Overcooked. It evokes the glory days of 16-bit multiplayer party games on SNES and Genesis, but it's much smarter, faster, and more engaging than anything that existed back then.Highlights- Arcane Arena is probably the most intense single-screen deathmatch I've ever played. Unlockable maps and powerups offer plenty of variety and depth.- Merlinball combines quidditch with air hockey and ends up feeling a bit like NBA Jam! Unlike NBA Jam, you can turn your opponents into chickens before you dunk on them. And unlike quidditch, it actually makes some goddamn sense.- Endless Trials Co-op offers a high level of challenge and a really interesting take on progression. Great for preserving a friendship after destroying someone at Merlinball.- The AI in this game is surprisingly great, and 10 levels of difficulty means you can fine-tune the bots between matches. As a result, 2v1 is quite viable, because you can choose whether to treat the bot like a handicap.Negatives- No online multiplayer. Maybe next time?I was amazed to find this game hanging around on the dusty backshelves of the Steam store with so little fanfare. It's a hidden gem, and it deserves to be celebrated. You should pick it up if you have even 1 friend to play with locally.
