If I had met such a person as this Eymerich in person, in real life, I would rather see him dead than suffer him.. The worst adventure ever and very bugy.. What a dark point&click - game. The riddles aren't generally all that hard, however a few activities must be executed in a certain (occasionally mysterious) request, which makes it difficult to finish the game without depending on a walkthrough here and there. Route is fluffy. The movements and characters are so fantastically terrible they're verging on charming. There are such a variety of easter eggs it's enfuriating - pretty much as you think you at long last discovered a pixel that is helpful it's yet another dev group logo or a pointless Monkey Island reference. On the in addition to side, the story is interesting, the verifiable setting is alright, the way they affirm medieval latin sounds sufficiently persuading, and the hero is a touch of an opening without a doubt, which is surely something else. The dialog is the best piece of the game. I'm stating thumbs up, in light of the fact that my internal trendy person is just as befuddled and charmed.. This game is a completely illogical piece of crap that wants you to do things it then wont allow you to actually do.. Another game where I wish steam would allow us a rating out of ten, rather than plain good/bad.If this had been a whole game (as opposed to no 1 in a series) I'd be recommending it wholeheartedly. But on finishing the game you will be annoyed to discover that it is chapter 1 in a series of... I'm guessing..... at least 4 games.I have just noticed chapter 2 has been released and so now there is hope that the plot might be completed. So fingers crossed, one day the whole game will be available. At that point I would recommend it. It is a dark, well written, story rich point and click with some complex characters and good puzzle design.I can't recommend it now as lots of us are really annoyed at episodic games that never get finished.. First things first, this is definitely a niche game. If you're not a fan of medieval historical fiction, Latin, or truly insane levels of a**holery, don't buy the game, or buy it on sale. The Awesome: You can play the whole game in Latin. The story. It interested me enough that I have a sudden burning desire to learn Italian just so I can read the novel this was based on (sadly, the novels were never translated into English) The easter eggs. I'm pretty sure at least half of the achievements are for finding the easter eggs in the game. The main character. He's such a snarky bastard. He was downright happy when he tricked the guard into taking poison. And the levels of snark when he talks to the Inquisitor General are off the charts The scenery. It's truly gorgeous, I guess to make up for the character models. The Meh:Clicking on things. Tiny things. Tiny things that apparently are about three inches to the left of where you think they are so you end up madly clicking over the entire screen to find that ONE PIXEL THAT WILL LET YOU FINISH THE PUZZLE. Or you can use the TAB key and hope for the best. This was really only a major problem when I had to inspect the corpse towards the end of the game. Eventually I just madly hit TAB until I heard new dialogue, because clicking was getting me nowhereNot being able to pick things up until you need them for a specific puzzle. This results in a lot of backtracking, but it can be fun because it's kind of like a game of memory. Now, where did I leave that rubber chicken? The Truly Horrible The character models. Sweet jesus they're terrifying. The final puzzle. Calling it a puzzle is kind of an affront to puzzles. Clicking letters and then click-dragging Greek letters over top of their English counterparts and then scraping gunk off good ol Nick's face is NOT my idea of a good time. It's filler, and I think they would have been better off just ending with a dream scene instead of trying to cram another puzzle in. I originally bought this game because it listed Latin as one of the languages you could play in. I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of the game, especially after reading some of the reviews. That being said, if you ignore the little annoying bits and pay attention to the story, it's actually pretty fantastic. Just don't get your knickers in a twist about ugly people and the sometimes-tedious puzzles and you'll be fine.8\/10 do recommend, and I'm definitely playing it again to see what other easter eggs I can unearth!. What a dark point&click - game. The riddles aren't generally all that hard, however a few activities must be executed in a certain (occasionally mysterious) request, which makes it difficult to finish the game without depending on a walkthrough here and there. The dialog is the best piece of the game. I'm stating thumbs up, in light of the fact that my internal trendy person is just as befuddled and charmed.. Magnificent story, but awful ending. This is a fantastic experience until the disappointing ending. We play one of the greatest figures in the history of Christendom and the setting is perfect. The terrors and degradation that great Christian martyres such as Nicolas Eymerich had to edure and cleanse were many and he goes about eradicating festering filth very well. The dialogue is a major plus as we are treated to wrods of wisdom throughout and the voicework is done perfectly as it really gives you a feel for how life was at that time for the church brethren. The plot contains one of the worst heresies of Christendom, Catharism, though this abomination is not dwelled upon for too long. Fortunately, the evilsof Catharism was wiped out after a magnificent siege of their mountain stronghold. While the story, characters and voices are brilliant, some of the controls are sticky as I would have to keep clicking on things a number of times and also there are lots of triggers that open up items to collect, even though you know you will need them earlier, but they can't be collected till needed. I never did understand the chicken and the pulley though.I had to use the cross (auto complete) on some of the puzzles as they were tricky, mainly due to the game mechanisms being not totally user friendly. It was a wonderful experience until the awful ending, which kind of made no sense and just appeared to end really abruptly, with a message about the next installment.I really hope the next chapter comes out soon. The main character was the writer of a magnificent early work that was the forerunner to the great Malleus, that helped to reduce the fetid stench of witchcraft in the Middle Ages.If only we had people in the church today as charasmatic and effective with vile heresy, Islam, the position of women and the filth of the modern world that plagues us constantly. A highly recommended experience..
